NMS2S for New Mexico retailers

NMS2S vs BioTrack vs Metrc: what changed for New Mexico operators

How New Mexico's state-built NMS2S differs from the BioTrack system it replaced and from Metrc, the system most other states use — identifiers, rooms, manifests, API, fees.

What this means in practice

  • Any BioTrack integration you had is dead code as of September 4, 2026.
  • Metrc tooling doesn't transfer. Reconciliation logic keyed on Metrc tags has to be re-keyed on Item ID / Barcode ID; receipt matching uses the NMS2S ticket ID; there is no equivalent of Metrc's external-receipt lookup yet.
  • The Sales Floor room is the gate. Nothing sells until it's moved there, by hand.
  • Tax is yours. Metrc receipts carry five computed tax fields; NMS2S stores whatever number the POS sends.
  • Multi-state operators need a per-license adapter and rule pack: Metrc for MI/CA/NY stores, NMS2S for NM — one ledger on top. That is how BudAlly is built; see the NMS2S hub and the Metrc hub.
